Remembering Ted Carrico

On May 19, 2020, our beloved friend and brother, Ted Carrico, went home to be with Jesus. He was a joyful, kind, and gentle man, who lived out his faith in Jesus with commitment to excellence and integrity.

He touched many lives through the gift of music and was the ultimate “Band Coach“. He loved teaching, coaching, mentoring and giving himself to students and musicians wherever he found them. Ted enjoyed playing in church and gigging around the valley, creating rythm and melody wherever he had the chance.

The family has asked in lieu of flowers and food that you donate to the things Ted was passionate about, Rwanda Ministry and supporting young students with instruments to learn and grow with.

Below are options to give to in remembrance of Ted Carrico.

About Ted Carrico

BAND Coach

Ted Carrico was a proud Idaho native from a small Idaho band program. He studied music-education in Oregon and had the privilege of teaching band for thirty-seven years in the state of Idaho. He first taught in Orofino school district at Timberline HS/MS’s, and then moved to McCall-Donnelly HS/MS teaching bands and choirs.  Before coming to Nampa, he got a call asking him to leave McCall. It was a hard decision for him to give up the mountain life, but he felt it was time; it was a blessing in many ways.  Ted had many wonderful experiences teaching at West MS, Nampa HS, many elementary schools and recently at Lone Star Middle School and Sage Valley Middle School.

In thirty-seven years of instruction, there have been many great moments. Ted’s musical teaching life included being able to share wonderful rehearsals and performances with thousands of great students who loved music.  It was a special honor to have his bands perform at the Idaho All State conventions. Many students went on to study music and teach.  Ted loved being a music teacher in Idaho!

Ted adjudicated many band festivals in Idaho and Oregon. He recently earned the credentials and honor of being able to adjudicate the largest high school band programs in Oregon through their adjudicator training. He had years of “superior” bands and top ratings at local festivals. He also led several Honor Bands.

Mr. Carrico recently retired from teaching and enjoyed semi-retirement.  He formed the Band Coach consulting business where he helped teachers that want to be better at their craft.  He was grateful to the many mentors that he had in his career.  He and his wife (Becki) have three children (all three are married) and eleven grandchildren. He enjoyed his family, church, golf, fishing, games, reading, hiking and camping.
